I had had a few odd experiences before, but I always chose to attribute them to something else; I didn’t want to believe in the paranormal.  I told myself that it was just a dream, I was just tired, my contacts were dry, etc. etc. But finally one experience made me believe.

I went to bed late that night, having stayed up finishing homework.  I got into bed and decided to watch some TV since I wasn’t very tired.  Soon I began hearing this odd murmuring sound, and it creeped me out a little. At first I thought it was just on TV, so I turned that off.  The sound stopped.  Satisfied I lay back down.  Seconds later the murmur started back up. For a minute I sat there, heart beating fast, until I realized it was only the motor on the fan. I turned that off, too, laughed silently at myself for being so silly, and decided to try and get some sleep. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I heard, loud and very clearly, a little girl’s voice say, “Hello” from within my room.

I have checked the vents in my room to see if the sound could have carried from another room, but it was three in the morning, everyone else was in bed, and any noise that coems through the vent has to be extremely loud and it sounds tinny and echo-y.  Not at all like what I heard.

Since this experience, I have become more familiar with this little girl spirit.  Her name is Brianna. (Pronounced bree-awna, NOT bree-anna, as she once told me huffily). I have also seen her aparition on one occasion.  I opened my door to see (most of) her standing there.  I could see her blonde hair with a yellow hair ribbon in it, her right arm, the bottom of her pale yellow dress, and that was it.  No left arm, no chest, no legs, no face or neck.  I believe that she is about 6 or 7 years old and lived in Michigan.

I now try and talk to her every day.  Usually I tell her good morning, good night, and try to leave something out for her to play with.  Right now I have a bunny stuffed animal, whose ears have wires that allow you to reposition them, and a ball on the floor.  The ball has not moved, but the bunny’s ears have once.

I am not positive exactly how she died, but I have reason to believe she was murdered by a man in a dark place, possibly an alley, and I the time period around the 1970′s. I have seen a sort of flashback of the man (I could not see his face) lashing at her legs with something, a branch or a whip, and leaving bloody lacerations all down her legs.  I also heard her horrendous screams that night.  I will never forget that night.  I couldn’t make it stop, I could do nothing to help her.  Now she will not talk about how she died.  She has stayed with me for nearly a year now, and I don’t think she plans on leaving.  Whether she will be able to or will want to follow me to college remains to be seen.
